T'was the day of the _______
and all through my head all my thoughts told me, I'd end up quite DEAD!
But my mom made me go, through all of that pain,
I mean it sounded so bad I thought I'd go quite insane!
But I knew I must go—go sit in that chair,
Even though I'd been told it would give me a SCARE!
So finally I went to that terrible place,
My mom said, "You should see the look on your face!"
As I waited and stared at the floor 'neath my feet,
I stood there a minute and my heart skipped a beat.
And I must now confess
it, for as I sat down, my one thought was, "Man, I should have
left town!"
But the ______ walked in and he didn't seem mean.
In fact, was quite pleasant—so nice and so clean.
My mind asked my body, "Was I in a dream?"
For with a wink of his eye and a nod of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.
Two little words, he said, "Open wide"
and he looked at each tooth through and through.
Then he pulled out some tool, like a sword from a sheath,
and solemnly tapped them, no cause to boo-hoo.
And what to my wondering eyes did appear?
A brush and some floss on a hand held quite near,
and he added, quite kindly, "Please brush well, my dear!"
And with that I walked out, my prize in my hand,
Not a scream or a shout of pain heard in the land!
Now I know that the _______ is not a bad place after all,
In fact, I will visit again in the Fall!
